For Schools & Teachers
Generally, yes. However, if support is arranged on short notice, the initial introduction may take place on their first day on the job.
This depends on the total number of hours approved by the funding provider and how those hours can be most effectively distributed to benefit the child.
In general, overall responsibility and the duty of supervision always remain with the teachingstaff. While our school companions naturally act responsibly and proactively, any temporary supervision they provide remains subject to the ultimate oversight of the school's educational staff.
No. The school companion can help make the curriculum accessible to the child and adapt the approach if needed, but they are not responsible for – nor should they be assigned to – the core content, delivery, or results of the lessons.
The companion’s participation in extra curricular or after-school activities depends entirely on the approval of the funding provider and may need to be applied for separately.
Generally, the school companion is there exclusively to support their assigned child. However, they can interact with and be approachable for other children, as long as their primary duty is not affected. Here, too, the core educational domain of the teachers remains entirely untouched.
If our companion is unable to attend, we will do our absolute best to arrange a substitute as quickly as possible. If a replacement cannot be found, further arrangements must be coordinated between the teachers and the parents or legal guardians.
